I HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING FROM WATCHING MORGAN. It is not easy being a mother.

It's a huge sacrifice…a huge ministry, and it is often undervalued and overlooked. It's not easy

From skinned knees to broken hearts. Mothers spend sleepless nights, years of worry and concern, countless questions about when to say something and when to leave it alone.

Godly mothers wear out the carpet praying on their knees, crying, sweating and begging God for the safety and security of their kids.

The Bible is not only the manual on how to be a mother…the Bible is our manual on how to be human. But today God told me to give a few examples of How to Be a Mother according to Scripture.

THE TITLE OF MY SERMON TODAY IS: SOME BIBLICAL ADVICE ON HOW TO BE A GOOD MOTHER.

POINT#1 A GOOD MOTHER LOOKS AFTER HERSELF FIRST.

Proverbs 31:25 She is clothed with strength and dignity,

and she laughs without fear of the future.

EVERYONE THINKS SERVANT, DOOR MAT…LAUNDRY, COOKING, WORKING, CANNING, CHURCH, SCHOOL.

EVEN JESUS WITHDREW TO PRAY OFTEN

If you are not well…you can not be a good mother. If you love your husband, if you love your children…take care of yourself first.

A mother can not be a good example for her children if she herself is not fully surrendered to Christ.

This means she has the wisdom of Christ, The love of Christ, the mercy and grace of Christ and faith in Christ no matter what circumstances surround her.

Sacrificing for your family does not mean sacrificing your well being. Your Spiritual health, physical health, emotional health and mental health.

First priority is not your husband, and not you children..its Jesus…Jesus is the tap…everything else is empty.

Put your relationship with Jesus as number 1.

Work with your husband to know Him more

Pray without ceasing

Space and time alone with God

Have close friends who inspire you to know Him more (church)

Pay attention to your health (doctor check ups etc)

POINT#2 WORSHIP JESUS NOT YOUR CHILDREN AND DEFINITELY NOT YOUR HUSBAND.

Matthew 4:10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God

and serve only him.”

Men tend to worship their wives…women tend to worship their children.

If you worship your children they are either going to be entitled spoiled brats or they will resent you and not want to be around you.

This is because they will either believe that they are gods or they will know they can’t live up to your expectations and they will feel drained by you feeding off of them.

Give them to Jesus.. You can not fix your children…you can not solve their problems…JESUS CAN

Moses…mother gave him to God

Samuel … Hanah gave Him to God.

Jesus…Mary had to give Him to His Father

Remember…you are their mother…not their saviour…Jesus is the saviour…not you.

Point them to Jesus, pray for them,,lead by example…always love…but in the end…LET THEM GO

Do not enable….sometimes saying no is the best way to love.

You are not their slave…they must make their own bed…do their own laundry…make their own money. Cooking, cleaning, serving others.

Be an authoritative parent…these are the rules…these are the consequences for breaking the rules. Don’t blow up…just stick to the formula.

Obey the rules…get blessed….disobey…consequences.

Don’t worship your children…Worship Jesus…show your children who Jesus is.

POINT#3 BUILD YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR HUSBAND SOON ENOUGH IT WILL JUST BE THE TWO OF YOU AGAIN.

Titus 2:4-5

4 These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children,5 to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.

LOVE YOUR HUSBANDS…love your children..yes…but build your relationship with your husband…. Please Him…cuddle him…kiss him…

Be involved with the finances

Do not nag or wine…be satisfied with what you have.

Hug him in public.

Respect him

Above all else

Inspire Him to be the spiritual leader in the Home.

Inspire Him to know Jesus more everyday.

In conclusion

Jesus

Your husband

Your children

Your church.
